I am in Love with America Again
by

I am in love with America again
My land of stars and stripes
My pride and joy.
I am in love with contradiction,
I am in love with tradition,
I am in love with progress,
with history and present and future.
I am in love with my painters and poets,
with the newspaper columnists, police, and politicians.
I am in love with America again.
Your body, your mind, your soul
I love your body - your body which needs no explanation
I love your mind - which I understand once I hear the stories
And I love your soul, which can never be explained.
I love you and I hate you too -
You make me who I am, you bring me here
with my pain and confusion.
You bring me here in a world of pain and confusion of all.
America, you are how big my heart is -
When I travel to the world, you are my heart and my guide,
everywhere I am I see you and feel you, everywhere is America,
is everything.
